Former Spanish Master, Mr Williams, is remembered by a QRC boy for his contribution. The year – circa 1968.
Students expressed love (and thankfulness) in strange ways then. They knew all the eccentricities of the Master – the “make” of his car and where it was known to have shut down, his famous “buzz words” in the classroom etc. Also, the Master’s every move was observed; they were deemed then to be correct. In my time at school, students actually received moral and spiritual guidance gratuitously from the Masters. Being held back after class and “walking the corridor” with the Master was another level of free help given to students, usually the type of support that may be lacking in the home. RIP – a good Master and a leader.
