DOLSINGH: Rupert C. passed peacefully on New Year’s Day 2018, at his home in Maraval. Beloved husband of Monica (née Ali, predeceased), father of Michael and Karen, and father-in-law of Radica (née Madoo). Grandfather of Janelle Hosein-Montes (Cristhian), Karissa Hosein-Wilson (Richard), Leandra, and Matthew (predeceased). Great-grandfather of 4. Born in Cedros in 1925, he was the son of Samdei & “Babu” Dolsingh (predeceased). Brother of Ruby Beausoleil (Reggie, predeceased), Elmina Toledo (Hilario) and Hubert (Kay); and of eight others (all predeceased). Brother-in-law, “Saroobhai”, Cousin, Uncle, Friend and Counselor to many, here and abroad, including “Brother” Ralph Manmohansingh, Rhodan Gopaulsingh, Clinton Gajadhar, Ayoub Ali, Bindra Dolsingh, Joan & Ken Charles, Kay Cockburn, John Mackay, The Chatlanis & Lakhans, and his devoted home-assistants Sharon, Claudia and Elizabeth. His career at R J Shannon & Co (NCR) spanned more than forty years, for many of these as Managing Director; he was a Founding Member of the TT Businessmen’s Association and of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, served on the Boards of the Royal Bank Trust and of several other business and community organizations, was an avid Rotarian, and was especially proud to have been part of the small group that conceived and implemented TTARP, now with a membership of tens of thousands. A Memorial Service will be held in his Parish of almost six decades, at the Church of The Assumption, Maraval, on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:00 o’clock, to be followed by a private family cremation in St James, the place he first lived and later married his beloved “Mons”, after he came from “Down South” to Port of Spain in the mid-1940s.
